HELPING HANDS
An Innovative Community Outreach Project
Who are we?
Helping Hands is a community outreach project offering a free monthly plaiting, cornrow and natural hair styling service on behalf of parents and carers for young people in the community.

Ever wanted to braid your child’s hair but not sure where to begin? Is the cost of paying a hairdresser proving difficult and you don’t know where to turn?
Are you struggling with styling your child’s hair and would welcome any tips and advice?
Then Helping Hands is just the help you need.
Helping Hands is a Christian community project which helps parents/carers who are finding it difficult to braid or plait their child’s hair.
Our team of warm and friendly volunteers will not only style your child’s hair in an amazing style, but they’ll also offer tips on how to maintain healthy hair.
This is a FREE monthly service and all you need to do is pre-book before attending. We only ask that you wash and dry your child’s hair prior to your appointment.

Testimonials
“ This is a fantastic service and as far as I'm aware, the first of its kind. As a mother with three children, one being a daughter, I understand how difficult it can be to set aside time to braid my daughter's hair. The alternative would be to send her to a hairdresser which is an additional cost or ask a family member or friend. Any parent would be relieved to know there is a service such as this one being offered to them. For those who would love to braid their child/children's hair but are unable to, and cannot afford to pay for a hairdresser, it takes away the stress of having to think about ways to style the child's hair. As part of the service, parents will also be given tips and advice on how to nurture and grow the hair. I'm certain Helping Hands will be a great success and one that will service the community well..”

“I work in social care with vulnerable families from a range of different backgrounds. Daily I come across parents who struggle with taking care of their children's basic needs due to an array of other social, emotional, environmental and health issues. The service that Helping Hands offers is a valuable and worthy one that will make a positive difference to many children and young people in the local area . Thank you to the volunteers of this service on behalf of the many families that you support.”
